#1 The start of any journey is a mixed set of feelings. Anticipation. Joy. Apprehension. No matter where the journey may take you, it’s that first footstep that is often the most difficult to take. This is because moving forward means you must leave something else behind.
#2 Challenges will always appear when you are in the middle of a journey. Some may be as tall as a mountain. Others may linger in the shadows. It can be intimidating at first when the route ahead seems so difficult. That’s why a journey is best taken just one step at a time.
#3 Some obstacles are natural and we must all work together to overcome them. Others we put in our own way by the choices that we make. These are the moments that will challenge us. You have three choices: climb over the obstacle, find a detour, or turn around and go back. The journey teaches us that we can never find what is waiting for us if we choose Option #3.
#4 It is important sometimes to pause on a journey. To take a look around. See where you are. There is perfection in every moment, everything, and everyone. When we look for these things, the value of our own journey becomes so much greater.
#5 There is a reason why they are called “challenges.” The goal is to do more than just endure. It is to grow. Become stronger. To explore more of the person you were meant to be. In the midst of a challenge, there may be pain. Suffering. Even heartache. Yet once you reach your destination, the reflection in the mirror you see will be of a person who is stronger because of that experience and the wisdom which is unlocked only by the conquering of a challenge.
#6 Even behind the darkest clouds or the thickest canopy, the sun will continue to shine. It’s light will continue to provide life. You may not see it, but you know it is there. So keep pushing. Keep striving. The sun will come out again.
#7 Sometimes on a long journey, we must look back. To see the progress our footsteps have made. Success isn’t always defined by reaching your destination in a timely manner. It is sometimes defined by the small lessons we’ve learned along the way. Lessons that have changed us. Refined us. Helped us to reach heights we thought were impossible in the not-so-distance past.
#8 Life continues to thrive. Whether in the tallest of buildings or the smallest of branches, life continues on. Therefore we must continue on. Even if that means we must rebuild what we have built every night, much like a spider does with its web.
#9 We define life by the peaks and valleys we encounter. Most of the journey, however, takes place during the in-betweens. This is why we must keep going, even if we are tempted to linger or give up. There is much more waiting to be discovered, but we must be willing to look for it.
#10 Sometimes a journey may be difficult. There may be a need to rest. So rest. Allow yourself to enjoy that moment. Relax. Rejuvenate. Spend time with friends. Embrace your family. Then have the courage to move forward once again.
#11 Some people may be further along in their journey. Others may be further behind. Where you are is less important than the lessons you’re willing to learn along the way. When we seek out negative energy, then it will be found. So seek out the positive energies of life instead. Be content with where you are and your ability to keep moving forward.
#12 There are times when we must walk alone in life. These can be the loneliest times we ever know. This is why the moments where we can journey with our friends, family, and loved ones must be treasured. These are the moments that will define who we become in those moments when we must move forward alone.
#13 We often think of a journey has moving up or moving down. It is important to remember that sometimes we must be willing to move sideways. To look for a better way forward. It does no good to reach the peak of a mountain, only to be so exhausted that you cannot enjoy the breathtaking views.
#14 Gratefulness. Humbleness. A willingness to sacrifice for one another. This is the foundation of every journey. It will lead everyone to the success that each person seeks. Three strands are always stronger than just one.
#15 It is natural to feel disappointed when a journey is nearly complete. You’ve faced obstacles. Challenges. Difficulties. You’ve conquered them. You’ve become someone new. Now life says that you must continue on. Repeat the process. Do it again. That’s why it is okay sometimes to stop and reflect on your success. You made it here. That means you can make it to the next stop too.
#16 So celebrate the moments of perfection when you find them. Share these moments. Linger in them. They can be difficult to find when we strive through the in-betweens. This is the time when you can say, “I did that.” Or “I saw that.” Or “I made that happen.”
#17 But at the end of the day, it is also important to remember that none of us truly did everything on our own. There were helping hands along the way. A shoulder to cry on. A hand to help you stand up again. Celebrate your victories. Just remember to include everyone that helped you achieve that victory as well. In doing so, you can create your own moment of perfection.
