There’s Just Something Special About Changi…
Photographer Francis Lee makes no effort to change his love for Changi. With 17 years of professional photography experience, he readily admits that he has probably visited Changi Point and the surrounding area hundreds of times over the past few years! Lee finds plenty of inspiration in simply walking the coast, but much of his creative muse comes from his leisurely walks along the Changi Boardwalk. With incredible skies, amazing formations, and stunning backdrops, it is easy to see why Lee thinks that Changi is a special place.
Changi Offers Changing Conditions, Perfect For Photography
“Changi was experiencing one of the most unpredictable wind change then that cause much disruption to the sailing community & also, uprooting many young trees,” described Lee on one of his many trips. Having traveled to Changi since 1977, Lee says that every trip there remains vivid in his memory. Just one look at Lee’s photographs and it is easy to see why Changi can have such an influence on someone!
For many, it is because Changi has the ability to affect the physical, the emotional, and the spiritual components of a person on every journey. Whether it is a simple gathering along the coast to help commune with nature in a unique way, a long walk at sunrise or sunset, or a morning out fishing, Changi is special because it takes care of the whole being. That is what Francis captures with each image.
Changi Always Has Something Exciting To Offer
“Be you a romantic Landscaper, or patience Macro-ian, or erotic portraiter… Changi must have something exciting to offer,” Lee fondly comments. “Photographers looking for inspiration needs to look no further than this scenic coast as the 2.6 km Changi Point Coastal Walk, stretching from Changi Village to Changi Beach Club, allow all to practice or hone their skills of different photographic genres.”
That’s ultimately the attraction of Changi – it always has something exciting to offer someone, no matter who you are. Whether you just want to document incredible memories or play with the manual settings of your digital SLR to create the perfect professional image, Changi offers everyone of every skill the change to create a memorable image.
What Could You Hunt Down In Changi On Your Visit?
In the past, Changi Point used to be a favorite place for hunters to seek out tigers. Today it is a beautiful location to hunt down the perfect photograph. That’s why Francis Lee always journeys back to Changi whenever he can – because there is always something unexpected to photograph, and for him that’s what really makes for the perfect image. “At eye level, a lot of images fail because the lens didn’t see the mind,” writes Lee, “but then again, its the fault of your brain, correct?”
Getting the mind and the camera lens to work as one is what Changi is all about. From the horizon to the shadow of the coconut tree on the beach, every artistic medium can be practiced and honed at Changi. What makes the work of Francis Lee so outstanding is that his images document this incredible variety in nearly every image.
