Nipon Chaocharernpon spent some of his childhood in an orphanage and always felt called to help children in a similar situation as he grew up and eventually had a family of his own. The four different orphanages he previously helped started, have provided education to children whom society might leave behind otherwise. Sometimes there wasn’t any financial support to begin a program, but that didn’t stop Chaocharernpon.
Light For Kids does more than just providing children with shelter from the elements. Every aspect of their well-being is addressed at this facility so that every child has the chance to grow up and choose to make a difference. This includes spiritual education where children can begin to embrace who they are on the inside as they develop the life skills they will need to make an impact in their adult years.
Light For Kids is expecting an increase in children who need their help in the coming year. There is no hesitation. If children need help, then it will be provided. In 2015-2016, at least 40 children are expected to be served so that their health, education, social, and life skill development needs are met. More than 30 children have been supported for over five years, and 17 children are currently studying at a junior high educational level right now.
If a community needs help, then Chaocharernpon, his family, and his staff do everything they can to provide whatever help they can. When basic needs can be met, a greater potential for learning can be achieved.
We also were encouraged by the numerous supplementary learning tools that were in place at Light For Kids to help the children. Responsibility is taught through the administration of weekly chores. Contentment is taught through the raising of animals or the planting of a garden.
Sometimes it only takes a moment for life to change in a negative way, but Light For Kids is proof that those changes do not need to be permanent.
It is never too late to get involved in a child’s life to make a difference. Children up to the age of 18 are supported by this mission. Although an orphanage may not seem like an ideal placement, for many of the children that Chaocharernpon and his family have assisted – it has been better than the poverty and rejection that they’ve experienced at home. When you visit Light For Kids, you will see children with smiling faces, wisdom in their eyes beyond their years, and joy that warms your heart.
Love and care can change a child. Love brings about hope because it never fails. It always thinks about others first, seeking out those who need help. When you listen to the stories of the children at Light For Kids, they all say one thing: A ready smile, a warm embrace and the love of a family can always be experienced here.
Even when it doesn’t seem like it, there is always a perfect moment. Hardships may come along with the journey, but that is the moment when we can provide a helping hand. This December, that’s exactly what we will do.
Chaocharernpon has made it his personal goal to help at least 500 children. You can follow and support this vision by liking Light For Kids on their Facebook page.
