Stunning Night Photography Provides Rare Glimpse of the World
“I started capturing the beauty of the night sky in 2012,” said Adel Karimi. “I really love to explore new places and take night shots.” The simplistic way that Adel describes his work is far removed from the actual complexity of what his final photographic results happen to be. Focusing on the night sky through time-lapses, exposure lengths, and with a unique perspective, many of Karimi’s photographs are reminiscent of the Pointillism movement in art more than photography itself.
If Karimi has a rare eye for the night sky and an even rarer ability to bring the unique beauty of the sky into one photographic image, then when that is combined with his location in Iran, he truly has something to provide that the rest of the world has rarely seen. Though desert landscapes often provide the dramatic backdrop Karimi needs to bring out the sky in all its brilliance, he doesn’t stop there. Islands, cityscapes, and thunderstorms are all brought out in magnificent splendor in his images.
It Takes Specific Conditions For Karimi’s Work to Shine
With images needing more than 40 minutes of time-lapse to complete, the need for good atmospheric conditions cannot be overstated. “For taking night photos, you have to find dark places with clear sky and low light pollution,” said Karimi, “and it’s really hard to find such places.”
From the complexity of his images, one might think that Adel Karimi has been taking photographs professionally for years… but that’s not the case. He has, in fact, only just started exploring the world through photography, taking his first images to share in 2012. It’s not just through photography where Karimi’s work shines, however, as his videos of the night sky offer something incredible to each and every viewer.
The Vastness of the Universe… In a Few Simple Images
Unlike other photographers who bring out the majesty of an image through software manipulation, much of Karimi’s work remains natural and untouched. Instead of focusing on correcting the image based on an idea, Adel uses a more “old school” approach to photography, matching light stops and exposures to create that perfect moment in time.
From a unique perspective in a unique location for much of the world, Karimi’s photographic work leaves an incredible impression upon each viewer. Instead of looking through the artistic eye, as one does with many photographic images, Adel shares the simplicity of the world around each and every one of us, every day. After seeing his images, you just can’t help but to take a look up at the night sky on a clear night and wonder what might all be up there.
