One of the most beautiful and traditional cities in Japan, Kyoto is a kaleidoscope of colour and a rich blend of the old and new. There’s a lot of history here and it was the Emperor’s residence from 794AD to 1868. There are hundreds of temples and shrines as well as beautiful gardens here and it really is a must visit city for any visitor to Japan.
Getting to Kyoto from Tokyo is really easy as the two cities are connected by J R Tokaido Shinkansen Train. The journey by Nozomi train takes around 140 minutes. Once in Kyoto it is easy to get around. Although Kyoto has a subway system the stations are not close to the big attractions in the city. Therefore using the bus is more practical.
