The Peaceful Simplicity of Life with John Morey

The first thing that stands out in the imagery by John Morey is its simplicity. They are the images that we might see every day as we go about the duties of life, yet John has lifted these images to new levels. “Claude Monet said it best,” he told Travelled Paths recently. “For me, a landscape does not exist in its own right, since its appearance changes at every moment; but the surrounding atmosphere brings it to life – the light and the air which vary continually. For me, it is only the surrounding atmosphere which gives subjects their true value.”

It is that life which Morey brings in a wide variety of landscapes. Whether it is the brilliant yellow of an Aspen tree that has succumbed to the coming Autumn or the brilliance of the night sky against a desert backdrop, his unique vision shows us the way life could be if we just would slow down a little bit every day.

Finding peace is the inspiration that Morey finds in every image. Sometimes that comes after spending 26 hours in bad weather. At other times, it comes from the luck that only a photographer seems to have once during a lifetime. Either way, the strength of peace and harmony clearly outweighs any other message that could be received with his amazing shot. [Read more…]

Celebrating the Wildside of Life with C.S. Ling

When I first met C.S. Ling, I couldn’t have been more impressed. There is a certain aura about her that gives everyone she encounters a certain confidence in their own passions. It is because the passion she has for her art comes through with every action, every movement that she takes. It is very easy to understand why she earned the title of being one of the “Great Women of Our Time” by Singapore Women’s Weekly Magazine in 2011 for arts and media. [Read more…]

A Moment of Reflection

Have you ever noticed how perfect a reflection tends to be in a captured image? The reflections that we see in the water’s surface, a pane of glass, or just in the mirror looking back at ourselves give us an idealized version of what life should be. It gives us confidence because we see the very best in ourselves and the world as a whole.

The thought about reflections brings about a question: is our reflection a genuine example of who we are? Or is our reflection simply something we put on for the rest of the world to see? [Read more…]

Keeping Close to the Heart of Mother Nature

With just one look at the images crafted by Terence Leezy, the evidence of love that goes into each one of them is immediately evident. With traces of humour here and there accompanied by a stark simplicity that is reminiscent of the early works of Ansel Adams, it is not hard to fall in love with the same landscapes and moments that are on display.

“It is often said that after the rain comes the sun,” Terence told TravelledPaths. He brings our attention to his image entitled Tetons on Fire. “The picture and I can’t agree more with that!”

Now take a closer look at the images of Terence and you’ll see something else: dedication. It takes a lot of hard work for a photographer to obtain many of the images that you can see in his full portfolio. From crawling down slippery cliffs for the perfect angle of a waterfall to waiting for the perfect moment to arrive on a wind-soaked Oregon beach, each image captured speaks to something personal. Pictorial Journey: Where in the World is Luka Esenko?

Luka Esenko can’t really say when it was that he decided to become a photographer. There wasn’t any special moment that happened. It just was a process where a hobby transformed into a career. That career has taken Esenko now to over 50 different countries.

“I’ll think nothing of a 5-hour walk in freezing temperatures to reach the summit in time to capture the first light on some of the most impressive peaks in the Julian Alps,” he told Travelled Paths in a recent interview. “I might even make it back down to the Adriatic coast for a seascape at sunset if I’m lucky!”

It isn’t luck that dominates Esenko’s stunning images, however, because each image is carefully constructed to reflect a specific message. Many have noticed this fact about his work, so much so that Esenko has started his own tours and workshops to help instruct others in his unique techniques.

You can often catch his work in National Geographic, the Slovene Tourist Board, and other publications. Winter might be his favorite season to capture images, but as you can see below, Esenko has an eye for beauty that happens in any season.

In his words:
